Develop a Student Restorative Justice Team

Outcomes
At the end of this training, the first cohort of the Student Restorative Justice Team (circle keepers) will be trained and a Restorative Justice Keepers Club will be formed.

Modality
The 3-day training is held in-person at the school.

Materials
All participants will be provided a comprehensive workbook and supplemental reading materials.

Before The Training
Before the training, we will work with the Staff RJ Team to:
• Identify the first cohort of Student Restorative Justice Team.
• Determine logistics for the 3-day training
• Provide support for the ongoing Circle Keeper Class/Club

During the Training
Each day of the training will include a group activity to understand a concept related to restorative justice, a game, an opportunity to be in nature, a deep-dive into restorative justice content, and experiencing 1-2 circles.
At the end of the 3-day training experience, participants will be able to:.
• Compare the punitive approach and the restorative justice in education framework
• Diagram different components of the circle
• Create a script for welcome circle, support circle, and conflict/harm circle
• Build an implementation plan for their school community

After the Training
After the training, the Staff RJ Team will receive support and consultation from our team. We will:
• Mentor the Staff Restorative Justices Team to provide ongoing training to Circle Keepers through club meetings 2-4x/month
• Mentor the Staff Restorative Justices Team to help Circle Keepers play an integral role in Tier 1 and Tier 2 practices
